7: Consent, Confidentiality and Information Sharing
7.1.1 This chapter describes consent and confidentiality in clinical situations which arise from child protection concerns. The general principles of consent and confidentiality in cases where there are child protection concerns are identical to all paediatric consultations, but the complex circumstances which sometimes arise in child protection can present difficulties for the clinician.
7.1.2 Paediatricians should share information with other agencies which in other circumstances the doctor might regard as confidential between themselves and their patient. Your first concern must be the safety of children and young people.
